Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire Chester, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional fees. A valid full driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, as well as identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit must be provided, along with any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Chester office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards through secure payment systems.
4. Pickup and Drop-off Procedures
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is necessary to identify any pre-existing damage, which should be reported immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the vehicle. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as appropriate. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental; refueling fees will apply if the vehicle is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you expect a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility

Additional insurance options may be offered to help limit your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for extra coverage. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky behaviors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting or allowing unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior permission is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Chester will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business that may result from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in English and Welsh courts.
